The short answer? YES. Star Wars is an incredibly popular franchise that's been around for well over 30 years. Star Wars video games have been around since before the old NES console system. I don't see LucasArts dropping what's probably their most lucrative franchise any time soon. As for what kind of games they might develop in future, that remains to be seen. Battlefront did well enough that it only seems natural that it continues into the "next-gen " console market, where there's already precedent for first-person and over-the-shoulder shooters. Space combat simulators might also be a good match, a long-time staple of the Star Wars video games. RTS games might not work so well, but can't be ruled out. Action RPG's in the style of the Jedi Knight games might also make good console candidates. Until we hear any announcements from LucasArts, it's all pure speculation, but it's pretty safe to say that yes, they are going to make more Star Wars games for the PS3. |
