Pretty much everyone is going to tell you Super Mario 64 is better because, well, it is. Super Mario 64 is an undeniable classic and set the benchmark for 3D platformers much like the original 2D Mario Bros. games set the benchmark for 2D platformers. It's got great levels, great controls and is easily one of the best Mario games though I actually think the recent Mario Galaxy/ Mario Galaxy 2 are even better though they follow the same style as Mario 64. However Lego Star Wars II is a fun game but it is flawed. The biggest problem is its really repetitive and simple but if you like Star Wars, if you like Lego, or if you like both its a fun rental. It's also really funny and does some great satire of the Star Wars movies and has a lot of charm. It's also fun with a friend, if you have a kid or younger brother its a great game to play together since it can still be fun for adults too. If you don't have a Nintendo 64 lying around you can easily get it off the Wii virtual console (Though I'd recommend getting a classic controller as well) or if you own a DS there is a DS port of it that is actually a bit more complete as it looks better, handles better, has some fun mini-games and you can play as Luigi, Yoshi, and Wario as well as Mario and there are a few more levels/ missions to play through. |
